Privacy Policy

Utopia lets you see clothes on yourself. To do that we need a photo of you, and that photo is the most sensitive thing we hold. This page says plainly what we collect, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.

What we collect

• Photos of you. The full-body photo and selfie you supply to build your fit model, the studio fit model generated from them, your profile picture, and every try-on image you generate.
• Account details.Your email address, username, display name and bio. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive an identifier and, if you allow it, your email and name. Apple’s Hide My Email is fully supported.
• Your preferences. The styles, brands and gender you choose during onboarding, and the pieces you save. We use these to rank the catalog.
• Your connections. Friend requests and friendships.

We do not use tracking technologies. There is no advertising identifier, no analytics SDK and no third-party ad network in the app. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your photos to train any AI model.

Face data

The photos you upload naturally include your face, so we treat them as face dataand describe them separately here. In this policy “face data” means the photographs you give us that depict your face — your selfie and your full-body photo — together with the fit-model image, profile picture and try-on images generated from them. This section explains, in full, what face data we collect, every purpose we use it for, everyone we disclose it to, how long we keep it, and how you withdraw your consent and have it deleted.

What face data we collect, and what we do not

We collect ordinary photographs only, and only ones you choose to give us from your camera or photo library: the selfie and the full-body photo you upload, plus the fit-model image, profile picture and try-on images we generate from them. We collect them only after you tick an explicit consent statement in the app confirming the photo is of you, that you are over 18, and that it will be uploaded to Utopia and processed by our AI provider to build your fit model.

We do not perform facial recognition, face detection, face tracking or facial landmarking, on your device or on our servers, and we never derive or store a biometric identifier or template of any kind — no faceprint, no facemesh, no facial-geometry map, no facial measurements or coordinates. We do not use face data to identify you or anyone else, and we cannot match your face against any database.

Every purpose we use face data for

• To generate your fit model — the studio image of you that clothes are rendered onto.
• To generate the try-on images you request, including try-ons a friend generates on your fit model.
• To show your profile picture, if you chose your selfie as one.
• To screen uploads for safety, so the app is not used to generate images of other people or unsafe content.

That is the complete list. We never use face data for advertising, marketing, analytics, profiling, tracking, identification, or to train or fine-tune any AI model — ours or anyone else’s — and we never sell, rent or licence it.

Who we disclose face data to, and their obligations

We disclose face data to exactly two service providers, each acting only as a processor on our instructions:

• OpenAI — receives your photos in order to generate your fit model and try-on images and to screen uploads for safety. Under our API terms the images are not used to train their models.
• Google Cloud — hosts our servers and stores the image files, in the United States.

We require by contract that any third party we share face data with protects it to at least the same standard set out in this policy — restricted to the purposes above, no use for their own purposes, no AI training on it, no onward sale or disclosure, comparable security controls, and deletion on our instruction. No other third party receives your face data. There are no ad networks, analytics SDKs, data brokers or trackers in Utopia.

Inside the app, face data is disclosed to other people only when you choose: everything you make is private by default, your fit model is visible only to you and to friends you have accepted, and a try-on that depicts you is shared only if you share it — even when a friend created it. Nothing is public unless you make it public.

Where we store face data, and for how long

Face data is stored as image files on Google Cloud Storage in the United States; our database holds only links to those files, never image bytes, and nothing is retained on your device by us. We keep face data only for as long as your account exists — so that you can keep generating try-ons without re-uploading — and we delete it when you ask us to, or when you delete your account, whichever comes first. We do not keep face data after account deletion for any purpose.

How to revoke consent and delete your face data

Your consent is entirely revocable and there is no penalty for withdrawing it.

• Delete individual images at any time. You can delete any try-on that depicts you from inside the app, including one a friend generated.
• Withdraw consent but keep your account. Email support@getutopia.appfrom your account’s email address and ask us to delete your face data. We erase your uploaded photos, fit model, profile picture and try-on images, and stop all processing of your face data. We action this within 7 days at the latest.
• Delete everything. In the app, tap Profile ▸ ••• ▸ Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and all of your face data — the original photos, the fit model, the profile picture and every try-on image — immediately and irreversibly. You can also request this by emailing support.

Deleting your face data deletes the image files themselves, not just database records, and we instruct our processors to do the same. Copies may persist briefly in content-delivery caches and in encrypted backups before ageing out; they are not used for anything in the meantime.

Who else sees it

• OpenAI— your photos and the garment images are sent to OpenAI’s image models to generate your fit model and your try-ons. This is the core of how the app works, and we ask for your explicit agreement before your first upload. OpenAI processes the images to return a result; under our API terms they are not used to train their models.
• Google Cloud — hosts our servers, database and image storage.
• Apple and Google — only if you use their sign-in, and only to verify who you are.

Every one of these providers is bound by contract to protect what we send them to at least the standard described in this policy, to use it only for the purpose we sent it for, and to delete it when we say so. We never sell your data to anyone.

Catalog product images (not your photos) may be routed through the public wsrv.nl image proxy for format conversion. Your own photos are never sent to it.

Who can see your photos in the app

Everything you make is private by default. A try-on or a look is visible only to you until you deliberately share it with friends or publicly. Your fit model photo is shown only to you and to people you have accepted as friends.

A friend can generate a try-on using your fit model. When that happens you are notified, the result stays private, and only you — the person in the image — can choose to share it. You can delete any try-on that depicts you, even if someone else created it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete it — the account record, your looks, try-ons, friendships and saved items, and the image files themselves: your profile picture, your fit model, the original photos you uploaded, and every try-on. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Copies may persist briefly in content-delivery caches and in encrypted backups before ageing out.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile ▸ ••• ▸ Delete account. If you would rather we did it for you, email support@getutopia.appfrom your account’s email address.

If you want to withdraw your consent to face data without losing your account, email us and ask — we will delete your photos, fit model, profile picture and try-on images and stop processing your face data, as described under Face data above.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfect; if we ever discover a breach affecting your data we will tell you.

Children

Utopia is not for people under 13, and you must confirm you are 18 or older before uploading a photo of yourself. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email support@getutopia.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy materially we will update the date above and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
